Iowa Collaborative Safety Net Provider NetworkExpanding Our Capacity To Care

Volunteer Health Care Provider Program

In 2007 the Network collaborated with the Iowa Department of Public Health and the Free Clinics of Iowa to redesign and streamline the State of Iowa’s Volunteer Health Care Provider Program (VHCPP), which provides malpractice coverage for providers volunteering at approved free clinics in the state.

This redesign effort dramatically reduced the processing time for VHCPP applications – from an average of 104 days to 16 days – and streamlined 22 separate applications for each provider type to just one single application for all providers.

This is a significant success story for the Network and its partners… and the Iowans they serve! For more information on this program, visit the Volunteer Health Care Provider Program.
